A Monumental Entrance, Thoughtfully Integrated
In 2025, the Art Institute of Chicago transformed its Michigan Avenue lobby with a centralized check-in entrance.
At the center of the renovation are monumental 11′ × 15′ Brombal pivot doors, featuring slim custom steel profiles and a specialized finish designed to complement the museum’s existing architecture.
ENGINEERED FOR SCALE AND PRECISION
At 11′ × 15′, the monumental pivot doors required more than a standard installation approach. The system had to meet the museum’s exact architectural, design, and installation requirements while maintaining the precision necessary for smooth operation. Custom steel profiles and a specialized liquid-painted finish were carefully coordinated with the existing lobby and patinated stair railings, allowing the doors to integrate naturally into their surroundings.
Precision Through Partnership
The completed entrance reflects what is possible when thoughtful design, specialized expertise, and precise execution come together. Through our Brombal system knowledge and product consultation, Meyer Guild helped support a monumental door system designed to function seamlessly within the Art Institute of Chicago’s iconic architectural setting.
